Ang Handog

Back to the Bible – Philippines produces radio dramas for special occasions like Christmas and the Lenten Season. For Handog (The Gift), I wrote the script (partly influenced by the Lord of The Rings trilogy) based on the Christmas story — actually, more of a prequel to the events that happened on Christmas.

Our voice talents (mainly my office-mates) recorded the drama in our studio and I added the music and the effects in my computer (I use Sony Sound Forge 6 to edit and Sony Vegas 6 to mix). The radio drama was aired over FEBC – Philippines stations on Christmas 2004, Lenten 2005 and Christmas 2006 (fully digitized in Dolby Theater Surround sound although the radio station used mono, he he he.)

Ang Kabalyero ng Sta. Ibañez

For the two-part Ang Kabalyero ng Sta. Ibañez (The Rider from St. Ibañez), I wrote the script (greatly influenced by Clint Eastwood movies particularly Pale Rider, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, plus The Quick and The Dead. In fact, I used some effects and music from those movies and some other great western movies like Young Guns and Ennio Moriccone’s music).

In essence, the radio drama is Pale Rider meets The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It’s also my tribute to our great Filipino radio drama artists who I used to listen to back when I was a child in the seventies.

Since this story required great dramatic talent plus versatility, I needed the help of one of the greatest radio veterans (and a personal favorite, too) — Kuya Joe Placiego. We discussed the story and he got his pool of talents. They did superbly well — you be the judge.
